Hello to all! I apologize for not posting in awhile! I read this article and although it is not particularly
marketing-focused, I decided to post it here. Has anyone heard of Wayne Huizenga? Ted Turner?
Meg Whitman? Maybe not, but I think we have all heard of Waste Management, Blockbuster, CNN,
and eBay! I found this article really interested because it presents people - entrepreneurs, who have
recycled old ideas and re-invented them, instead of starting from scratch. I personally don't think
that Entrepreneurs necessarily matter MORE than Innovators, but it is definitely an interesting
concept. Hope you enjoy! http://gmj.gallup.com/content/150707/Why-Entrepreneurs-Matter-
Innovators.aspx?

I just came across this article about flash mobs! I hadn't seen any of these videos before so these were all new! Flash mobs are when "large groups of people assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and pointless act for a brief time, then disperse." According to this article, the first flash mob was "created in Manhattan in May 2003, by Bill Wasik, senior editor of Harper's Magazine." Enjoy the 5 videos that are posted in this article! http://www.creativeguerrillamarketing.com/guerrilla-marketing/flash-mob-guerilla-marketing-stunts-that-generated-buzz/

well-written article with a great overview of various advertising mediums in today's world. And fun
fact: I actually used it as a source for one of recent my marketing projects! :D

I loved this article! Who knew that Las Vegas originally tried to market itself as a family
destination?
Or that Nike only paid $35.00 in the early '70s for Portland State University graphic design
student
Carolyn Davidson for designing the famous Swoosh? If not, then now you do! Check out the
rest
of
the "Best Marketing Ideas"! Some of the worst are listed as well. Please note: this article is
rather
old (2008), so the "best and worst" may now be outdated!

My main areas of interest in marketing are the advertising and communications aspect, so I
apologize if the majority of my posts are related to these areas. I found this article the other day and
hadn't seen many of them before so I decided to post them here. I definitely think some are better
than others, but my favorites are: Royal National Institute of the Blind, Newspaper Marketing Agency,
Utopolis, Wellington Zoo, Play-Doh, Coca-Cola (typical :), and Tide! Enjoy the rest!

Hello to All!

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is enjoying their first few weeks back at school. My name is Mary Colpo and I am your new VP Communications this year! Jodie Worobec did a wonderful job of blogging last year and I hope that I can live up to her previous posts. I thought this AT&T Ad campaign was so clever! I was afforded the opportunity of going on exchange to Vienna this past year so a lot of these photos I recognized from my travels (Stone Henge/The Rialto Bridge anyone?!) The painted hands are very eye-catching, creative, and distinct. I was impressed with how they were able to appeal to so many specific countries and convey how diverse the company is. Hope you enjoy!
